Fleas

If you notice your cat scratching its body frequently, it might be a sign of fleas. There are many easy treatments and products available to deal with this issue, but if you’re unsure, it’s best to consult a veterinarian. Don’t forget to clean your cat’s bedding and the surrounding area regularly.

Grooming

Long-haired cats need to be brushed daily—not just to prevent tangles and keep their fur looking great, but also because brushing helps strengthen their muscles. For short-haired cats, gently stroking them with a damp hand helps keep their coat clean and well-maintained.

Vaccination

Between 6 and 12 weeks of age, kittens should be vaccinated to prevent Feline Infectious Enteritis and respiratory diseases. Annual booster shots ensure your cat stays continuously protected.

Hygiene

Cats also need regular baths. It can be hard to watch your furry friend struggle and give you that pleading look during bath time, but it’s for their own good. Use warm water and a soft towel or washcloth to clean their fur gently. Also, keep their food and water bowls clean—wash them thoroughly and discard leftover food. Make sure their bedding and litter box are always kept clean as well.

Ear Problems

If your cat keeps shaking its head or scratching its ears, check for any foreign objects or signs of infection. A foul smell or small black granules may indicate ear mites—if you notice these, consult your veterinarian immediately.

Oral Health

Bacteria on your cat’s teeth can cause gum disease, ulcers, and loose teeth, which may reduce appetite or cause them to chew only on one side due to pain. If this happens, your cat needs dental care from a veterinarian. To help relieve discomfort, you can gently rinse their mouth with a mild saltwater solution.
